Home apnea monitors are generally used for
infants to monitor respiratory and heart rates
in the home setting. An alarm will sound if
there are no respirations (apnea) for more than
a predetermined limit or if the heart rate falls
below a certain predetermined limit (bradycardia).
Documentation of the apnea events is obtained by
downloading information from the monitor and
provided to the ordering physician. Infant home
apnea monitors must be ordered by a physician
and must be medically necessary in order for it
to be covered by medical health insurance. An
experienced technician will provide parent
training on proper usage of the apnea monitor.
Parents must have CPR training prior to set-up. |
